Our youth ministries at Harbor Covenant are centered around building relationships with Jesus Christ and with each other. We strive to love and accept everyone and grow together in the transformative power of Jesus Christ. While we have many programs to be involved in, our main focus is building these relationships. We want to create a place to belong and teach truths about God, each other, our community, and our culture. The North and Central Campus share one Middle School Youth Group and one High School Youth Group.

SUNDAY MORNINGS

We really value teenagers worshipping together with their families, their friends, and their church family. All Middle School and High School students are encouraged to join their families or friends during the first part of the worship service.

We also value time to connect with peers. After the first set of songs, Middle School students are encouraged to go as a group for a lesson and connection time just for them.

YOUTH GROUPS

While we take each week seriously in our journey together, we like to have fun doing it. From September through May we gather and have games and activities, chances to just hang out with great people and amazing adults who care about students, opportunities to serve in leadership positions, times to worship, and discussions about scripture and key issues.

SMALL GROUPS

During the week we have small group opportunities for guys and girls in both middle school and high school to further your spiritual desire to seek after what is true and build solid friendships.

If you are interested in getting plugged into a small group, please email Matt Knapp (matt@harborcov.church) to find when and where each group meets.

HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT LEADERSHIP

The High School Student Leadership team is tasked with putting on the Fall Frenzy retreat in November, setting the tone at youth gatherings, and building friendships among students. If you are a student and are interested in being a part of our High School Student Leadership team, please contact Matt Knapp (matt@harborcov.church). The HS Student Leadership team meets Wednesdays before youth group at 5:30pm. We ask that you commit to serving for at least 3 months at a time.

CHILL 2018

Chill is our winter retreat for Middle School students and a favorite for us. We rent out a small lodge in Cashmere, WA and spend time exploring faith in Jesus. We also worship together, play games with friends, and play in the snow.

This year our focus is on the major "threads" that make us who we are.

Travel Schedule

Depart @ 3:00pm on Friday, March 2

Return @ 5:30pm on Sunday, March 4

Other Info

• We stay at Camas Meadows Bible in Cashmere, WA, where they provide lodging, food, and some fun in the snow for us.

• The guys and girls have separate areas for sleeping, with a common living area to hang out together during the day.

• Registration covers food, housing, a hoodie, and a few program supplies.

CHIC 2018

CHIC is the only conference that gathers students from throughout the Evangelical Covenant Church in one place for five days of worship, transformation, and fun. CHIC acts as a catalyst in students’ lives, helping them see the big picture of God’s kingdom and inspiring them to dive deeper in their faith–together.

High school students are eligible to attend CHIC if they will complete grade 9, 10, 11, or 12 in the 2017-2018 school year.

Please note:

• In order to attend CHIC 2018, students must be 15 years old by December 31st, 2017, OR be 14 years old AND have completed 9th grade in the 2017-2018 school year.

• Students who are 13 years old, or who are just completing 8th grade, cannot attend CHIC.

• Seniors may attend CHIC a second time.

Some exceptions may apply. Please check with the events office by emailing chic@covenantevents.org with any questions about eligibility.

S.L.A.M. 2018

S.L.A.M. TRIPS is a program of Mending Wings—a nonprofit, Native American youth organization located on the Yakama Reservation in Washington State. They offer cross-cultural, summer youth mission trips on their reservation.

Our Middle Schoolers will complete service projects such as chopping wood for elders, cleaning brush and garbage from yards, painting over graffiti and painting houses. They will also receive a cultural orientation from local Native Americans, Pow-Wow’s (depending on what week you come), participation in a Native American worship service (guaranteed to be VERY different from the church service you’re used to), a traditional salmon and Indian fry bread dinner with singing and dancing from local Native youth. Based on the year, some additional cultural immersion activities will include some of the following: tour of the Yakama Nation Museum and Cultural Center, cooking s’mores over a fire pit at a locals house, visiting Ft. Simcoe and receiving a guided tour through the area (the soldier fort during the Yakama wars and later turned into an Indian boarding school), learn how to set up a teepee, swim in the Yakima River, learn traditional Yakama games, complete a small bead-work project.
