Hey Harbor Cov!
It’s that time of year again to gather for our annual business meeting, share stories of what God has done in us and through us, approve next year’s budget, and elect some leadership team members. Additionally, as a special treat, we’ll have a salmon dinner for everyone after the meeting!
The annual meeting will be on Sunday, June 4 @ 5:00 pm in the Worship Center at our Gig Harbor, Central Campus. While only members of Harbor Covenant Church will be able to cast votes, I want to encourage everyone to come and participate.
I also want you to be as prepared as possible for the meeting, so here are a few things I want to share with you.
First, let’s talk about next years budget. You can download the proposed budget for the upcoming fiscal year here. This will be voted on for approval at the meeting.
There will be a few budget Q&A meetings before the meeting specifically designed for you to ask any questions you have about the budget ahead of time, get the clearest picture possible.
Two meetings will both be held at our Gig Harbor, Central Campus in the Lower Level on:
- Sunday, May 28 @ 10:00 am
- Tuesday, May 30 @ 6:30 pm
Two meetings will both be held at our Gig Harbor, North Campus on:
- Sunday, May 21 after the worship service
- Sunday, June 4 after the worship service
This is important:
If you can’t make the annual meeting but still want your vote to be cast in absentia, you need to attend one of these budget Q&A sessions.
Second, let’s talk about the agenda. It’s unique to be excited for a church meeting. When we get to hear stories about God’s faithfulness, stories of life change, and stories about how we are making a difference in our community, a business meeting is exciting. And that’s what we have planned.
Of course there are the main things to vote on (Leadership Team members and the annual budget), but we also want you to hear from some new members and members who have been part of the Harbor Cov family for decades about what they love about our church. You can click on this link to download the agenda.
Third, there are a lot of stories from this last year that our staff, leadership team members, conference leaders, and denomination leaders have written about to share with you. You can read them all in this year’s Annual report which will be posted soon.
Fourth, we have three new nominees for the Leadership Team: Jens Carlsson (2nd Term), Jim Polo (1st Term), and Sheri Wright (1st Term). Soon we will post their bio’s and you can download them to get to know them a little bit more.
You can learn more about the nominating process by downloading the 2023 Nominations Document and the Nominee Bio’s:
Fifth, we are introducing some amendments to our constitution. Please download and review these amendments. These amendments are only being introduced and will not be voted on until our 2024 annual meeting.
It’s such an honor and a privilege to be your pastor and I look forward to June 4th together.
In Christ,
Michael White
Senior Pastor
