About Harbor Cov

We want you to come as you are...

Harbor Covenant Church is one church with two physical campuses and one online community. While each venue has its own unique relationship and styles of worship to the communities they serve. We’re not scary and there’s no dress code.

We hope you can be open to God, and you are welcome to participate as much or as little as you want. We don’t single out visitors during service and won’t make you uncomfortable. If you’re ready, the pastors would like to say hi after the service. We have plenty of parking and plenty of opportunities for your kids to connect as well.

Both campuses are committed to reaching people for Christ, developing disciples, and living lives of compassion, mercy and justice.

Reach Others

At our core, we believe the Church exists to share the life-transforming good news of Jesus Christ. This is more than a program—it is our primary purpose. We are passionate about creating a culture where the unchurched, the seeking, and the skeptical feel welcomed and can encounter God in a real way. Our vision for evangelism is relational, authentic, and extends from our immediate neighbors in Gig Harbor to the farthest corners of the world.

Grow in Faith

We believe that coming to faith is the starting line, not the finish line. Following the Great Commission’s mandate, our goal is to move people from a decision for Christ to a lifelong journey of discipleship. We are committed to fostering deep spiritual growth, moving beyond passive Sunday attendance to active, daily imitation of Jesus. The ultimate sign of a healthy disciple is their ability to invest in and develop other disciples, creating a culture of spiritual multiplication

Practice Compassion, Mercy, & Justice

Our faith is not meant to be contained within the walls of our church. We believe the Gospel compels us to be the hands and feet of Jesus in a broken world. Guided by passages like Micah 6:8, we are called to “act justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with our God.” This principle calls us to demonstrate God’s heart for the poor, the marginalized, the forgotten, and the oppressed through concrete action.

This all started 45 years ago....

Harbor Covenant Church began in 1980 when a group from First Covenant Church in Tacoma joined to “plant” a new church in Gig Harbor. We were organized in 1981 as a mission congregation of the Pacific Northwest Conference of the Evangelical Covenant Church.

The Evangelical Covenant Church (ECC) is a rapidly growing, multiethnic denomination with roots in Sweden and a history of mission work. Founded in 1885 by Swedish immigrants, we value the Bible as the word of God and connected with the living Christ. We celebrate the gift of God’s grace and ever-deepening spiritual life that comes through faith in Jesus Christ. We believe in the importance of extending God’s love and compassion and participating in advancing God’s justice in a broken world.
